Tobin Mueller – Before There Were Gods from “If I Could Live Long Enough”

“Before There Were Gods” speaks to the timelessness of love, the sense that it is beyond right and wrong, before religious intent, deeper than the gods themselves. This gorgeous video by the paintings of Vladimir Kush, the remarkable contemporary surrealist. It is also a homage to the late guitarist Michael Hedges (December 31, 1953 – December 2, 1997), based on his haunting song Lenona (1981). All other instruments, effects and vocals are by composer/lyricist Tobin Mueller, including the seagulls and other sounds recorded in North Truro, Cape Cod, MA. Although this track was recorded in 2004, it was not released until 2016 on the compilation album of Mueller’s previously unpublished works, “If I Could Live Long Enough.” For more information, please see: www.tobinmueller.com/long-enough/. Mueller has just released his 29th album, “Standard Deviations”.
