The Ellites – Asmara ketema

The Ellites – Asmara ketema

Combining East African music with modern day EDM music. Asmara Ketema is an old Tigrinya song that’s been revived after almost 60 years by an Eritrean family group/band based in Saudi Arabia called The EllITES. The Rendition is a remix of Asmara Ketema by the legendary Yunas Ibrahim and the Dutch Dj Don Diablo’s Heaven to me. The song talks about Asmara’s beauty, which is the capital city of Eritrea, a country in the Horn of Africa. How the city is compared to Paris and London by its historical buildings.

Asmara is known for its Italian colonial buildings, like the Catholic Cathedral. The city’s eclectic architecture ranges from art deco cinemas to the Futurist, airplane-shaped Fiat Tagliero service station.

The EllITES (El-lites) band added their own twist to the song and changed it to a Funk/Dance Electronic Song. In hopes that the world would know more about this beautiful city.
