Souf B Souja Keeps It Moving on “The Way You Dance”

South Berkeley, California rapper Souf B Souja is back with a new single titled “The Way You Dance,” adding another chapter to a story that has been built on persistence, hustle, and real-life experience. Known for his trap-driven sound and a decade-long run in the game, Souf B Souja continues to sharpen his presence with music that’s rooted in where he’s from and what he’s lived through.

With “The Way You Dance,” he leans into a more upbeat energy without losing the edge that defines his catalog. The track carries the bounce and confidence of trap music, but it’s also built for movement. It’s the type of record that fits a late-night drive, a party setting, or any moment where the goal is simple: catch a vibe and let it play.

Souf B Souja has been putting in work for 10 years, and his journey traces back to early exposure and independent ambition. In 2011, he appeared on San Jose’s Show Me Your Talent TV series. While he did not win, the experience still opened doors and created momentum early in his career. Even without a label deal, he kept pushing forward, choosing consistency over waiting on a co-sign.

In 2012, he teamed up with Syef Folse to create the independent record label Dope Muzik/The Smoking Section, helping him build a foundation that did not depend on major industry backing. By 2013, he linked with AC of Slapping in the Trunk and released his debut album He Got Game, dropping it digitally on all platforms while also moving physical copies directly to the people, selling them out the trunk of his car. That direct-to-fans approach reflects the type of artist Souf B Souja has always been: hands-on, self-driven, and committed to staying active.

One of the biggest standouts from He Got Game was “Slide if you Ready,” featuring HD of Bearfaced, a track that helped define that early era and reinforced the momentum he was building.

From 2014 to 2017, Souf B Souja stayed consistent with releases, visuals, and performances across California. During that period he dropped the albums Mob Dreams and Mob City, staying visible in the scene and expanding his reach through shows and videos. It was the type of run that often separates serious artists from temporary buzz, and he was stacking the kind of catalog that comes from real work.

Then came a major setback.

In 2018, Souf B Souja was locked up, and in 2019, he was sentenced in Alameda County. His real name, Christopher Alan Jones Jr., became part of the story as he dealt with the consequences of his legal situation. According to his background, the case involved burglary charges across multiple counties, leading to a total sentence of 9 years and 4 months, with 85% time tied to home burglaries in different areas of California.
