Rising Artist Rio Narley Brings Fresh Perspective and Smooth Bars to the Hip-hop Industry

Rising artist Rio Narley has been making waves in the music industry with his fresh perspective and smooth bars! With a mellow sound and a measured, rhythmic flow to his bars, Rio Narley makes music that is in stark contrast with the predominate drill rap style that has taken over the airways. As a result, his music offers a refreshing alternative with much more chill vibes. His latest release “Target” shows off this style perfectly, and gives listeners a taste of some of the genuine and authentic lyrics that Rio Narley is capable of dishing out. Poised for a major come up in the following months, we were excited to catch Rio Narley for an exclusive interview, transcribed below, to talk about his inspirations, styles, and journey. Check it out below!

Idols 2 Rivals: What first got you into music?
Rio Narley: Listening to melodies created from instruments used in Bob Marley’s tracks and my big brother free-styling on beats.

I2R: What’s the meaning of your track “Target”?
RN: Knowing my worth, understanding my destiny, and accepting my humane, self driven, culturally diverse true positive self, made family, friends, and even people who barely knew me very envious of me. Nevertheless, throughout all of the hate and fake love, my soul naturally makes it very clear to the world that you can never destroy a positive soul.

I2R: Who inspired you to make music?
RN: I inspired myself to make music and Earth’s authenticity helped with my creative way of thinking, songwriting, and studio recording style.

I2R: How would you describe the music that you typically create?
RN: Earthy, conscious, and real, but yet fits the market trends.

I2R: We enjoyed the visuals on the “Target” music video, especially the monopoly board and you falling from the sky. What inspired the music video?
RN: The positive message described in my lyrics inspired the music video.

I2R: What is your creative process like?
RN: I like tuning into beats and writing lyrics while chilling at the beach, driving in my SUV alone.

I2R: Who would you most like to collaborate with?
RN: Trippie Redd.

I2R: What would you be doing now if it weren’t for your music career?
RN: Chef Cook

I2R: What is your favorite song to perform?
RN: “Target”

I2R: Which famous musicians do you admire?

Cole, Saint Jhn, Kendrick Lamar, Mac Miller (R.I.P.), Joyner Lucas, Nipsey Hussle R.I.P.), Trippie Redd, Dax, Justin Bieber, Post Malone, Drake, Ace Hood, Eminem, T.I., XXXTentacion (R.I.P.), Juice Wrld (R.I.P.), Jaden Smith, Wiz Khalifa, Rae Scremmurd, PartyNextDoor, Don Toliver, Migos, Travis Scott, and Kap G.

I2R: What is the best advice you’ve been given?
RN: To express my unique self to the world and always stay true to who I really am.
