Known for his punch lyrics and his distinct reggae-fusion style, MitchDiSinga is quickly becoming a rising star in the music industry. Combining distinctive vocals with catchy melodies, MitchDiSinga has developed a reggae-fusion sound that is both unique and familiar to listeners. His latest single, “HOISTED” shows off this unique sound, and talks about the artist’s relationship with cannabis as a tool for creativity and spreading joy. MitchDiSinga was able to connect with Idols 2 Rivals for an exclusive interview, transcribed below, where he talked about his inspirations, unique style, and the best feeling in the world – getting “HOISTED”!

Idols 2 Rivals (I2R): What first got you into music?
MitchDiSinga (MDS):  My father’s love for music, he was playing his guitar before i was born. Played in the church band so I guess it’s in the genes.
I2R: What’s the meaning of your track “HOISTED”?
MDS: It’s a feel good song about feeling lifted and put in a relaxed and meditative state of mind as a cannabis lover.

I2R: Who inspired you to make music?
MDS: I grew up listening to different genres of music, and I used singing as my ‘escape ‘ at an early age. I even wrote my first song at the age of 10. I listened to Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie, Al Green, B-Gees, Beres Hammond you name it.
I2R: How would you describe the music that you typically create?
MDS:  I would call it reggae-fusion as I am from the land of (Jamaica) where reggae is its origin and I am not the one to “stay in box” musically speaking.
I2R: What is your creative process like?
MDS:  Everything begins with a melody, be it in your head or on a track. Whenever I hear something I like, I begin to put words to melody then I record it.
I2R: Who would you most like to collaborate with?
MDS: Pharrell Williams, I’ve co-written with him before. Just would love to be on the same track.
I2R: If you could open a show for any artist, who would it be?
MDS: Pharrell Williams
I2R: What would you be doing now if it weren’t for your music career?
MDS: I would probably be a fashion designer, an artist or an architect.
I2R: How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?
MDS:: I feel it has opened more doors for music and for all involved, especially for the independent artists to expose their talents to the global market
I2R: What is your favorite song to perform?
MDS: I don’t have a favorite. I love all my songs. lol
I2R: What is the best advice you’ve been given?
MDS: Words are powerful, be mindful how you use them and what you say.
I2R: What is one message you would give to your fans?
MDS: Thanks for all the support you’ve given me on all my platforms as we strive for higher, i appreciate you.
I2R: What’s next for you?
MDS: Look out for my new single ‘ You Just Can’t Smile It Away’ coming soon on the RawVue Music Label.
