In 2018, Cass Peel and Mike Peel launched a mission to showcase under-the-radar rock music gems from both known and lesser-known artists spanning generations from the past to the present. Their goal was to share music that traditional radio has overlooked and that could connect with a broader audience, as well as music that pushes the boundaries of rock music in innovative ways. The result was Rarity Rock Radio, a 24/7 online radio station.
Now nearly 5 years later, the co-founders are continuing to expand on their passion project. As DJs, they curate all of the music and programming themselves with the mission to provide valuable promotion to artists to help increase their exposure and popularity. They seek to promote music that uplifts and unites communities through inspiring anthems and thoughtful lyrics, challenges society’s values and beliefs, and inspires positive change.
Their passion for promoting great music has led them to interview Nils Lofgren, the guitarist for Bruce Springsteen, and evolve from a local radio show in Arizona to a global online station that plays 24/7. Rarity Rock Radio has organically grown their social media to over 6,000 followers on Facebook and over 2,000 followers on Instagram. They are featured on popular platforms like Live365 and can be streamed on Fire/Apple/Samsung/Android/Roku TV apps.
In the future, they plan to expand their ability to market and promote artists, partner with organizations and businesses for ad campaigns, and collaborate with social impact causes like PETA. They also plan to increase their social media presence by utilizing platforms such as TikTok to spotlight virtual artist residencies, a diverse selection of DJs, and their ongoing partnership with ReverbNation.
Rarity Rock Radio believes they are making a meaningful impact on the music industry by fostering connections across generations and promoting social progress through a shared love of discovering new artists and musical gems. They have dedicated listeners who understand the healing power of music, and many of the songs on their station are the soundtrack to people’s lives.
