Muni Long’s ‘Ruined Me’ Reaches No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay Chart

Muni Long continues her meteoric rise in the R&B world as her latest single, “Ruined Me,” claims the top spot on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart this week.

The emotionally charged track, crafted by Jeff “Gitty” Gitelman and Kevin Theodore, dethroned Eric Benét and Tamar Braxton’s duet, “Something We Can Make Love To,” after just one week in the lead.

This achievement marks Long’s second No. 1 hit on the chart, following “Make Me Forget,” which held the position briefly in August. Additionally, Long currently has three more tracks that made it to the top 10 on this chart, showcasing her sustained impact on R&B radio.

Here’s a look at Muni Long’s Billboard Adult R&B Airplay chart highlights:

  • “Make Me Forget” – No. 1 for one week (2024)
  • “Ruined Me” – No. 1 for one week so far (2024)
  • “Made For Me” – No. 2 (2024)
  • “Hrs and Hrs” – No. 2 (2024)
  • “Honey” (with John Legend) – No. 4 (2022)

“Ruined Me” serves as the third single from Long’s sophomore album, Revenge, which debuted on August 30 under Def Jam Recordings. The song is also up for Best R&B Song at the upcoming 2025 Grammy Awards, adding to Long’s impressive list of nominations this year.

In a recent interview, Long revealed how “Ruined Me” nearly didn’t make it onto the album, as the track listing was already finalized. “It was the last song I wrote,” she explained, “and we didn’t want to change the tracklist, but it just felt too important to leave off.”

Jeff “Gitty” Gitelman, who co-wrote and co-produced the track, shared his perspective, saying, “She called me and said, ‘This needs to be on the album. Even though it’s finished, this song is too personal and powerful to leave out.’ She wanted to express something deeply raw, and I was happy to help bring it to life.”

Revenge, which follows her 2022 debut album Public Displays of Affection: The Album, features collaborations with artists like GloRilla. Other singles from the project, including “Made For Me” and “Make Me Forget,” have also received critical acclaim.
