Mariah the Scientist continues to solidify her place in the music industry with another milestone achievement. Her 2021 track “2 You” has officially been certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), signifying over 500,000 equivalent units sold in the United States. The track, produced by Camper, stands as a testament to her growing influence and artistry.
This marks the second track from her album RY RY WORLD to achieve RIAA certification. In 2023, her collaboration with Lil Baby on “Always n Forever” also earned a Gold certification. Additionally, her platinum-certified hit “Spread Thin,” from the 2022 EP Buckles Laboratories Presents: The Intermission, further cements her track record of success.
Reflecting on the creative vision behind “2 You,” Mariah highlighted its connection to her song “Aura,” also from RY RY WORLD. In an interview with Office Magazine, she shared, “Both videos are metaphors. ‘2 You’ is almost like a post-death experience—like seeing the light after a near-death moment. The next one dives deeper into how we arrived at that point, metaphorically speaking.”
The music video for “2 You” has amassed over 12 million views on YouTube, while the song itself has garnered more than 32 million streams on Spotify, making it one of the most popular tracks from the album, second only to “Always n Forever.”
Since signing with Epic Records in 2023, Mariah released her latest album, To Be Eaten Alive, led by singles like “Bout Mine” and “From A Woman.” Speaking on the album’s concept, she said, “Scorpions, like me, are seen as solitary creatures. But their interaction with something as grand as a lion reflects a mutual respect born from curious differences. That dynamic inspired the title.”
Following the release of To Be Eaten Alive, Mariah embarked on a nationwide tour to connect with fans. The Atlanta native has also expanded her collaborations, working with artists like 21 Savage (“Dark Days”), Latto (“Look What You Did”), and Tee Grizzley (“Situationship”). She also lent her vocals to Kaytranada’s Grammy-nominated album TIMELESS on the track “Out of Luck,” which appears on her album as well.
