Producer Das Mörtal delivers a striking new remix of I’MMORTAL’s single “Uncanny Valley,” out today via IMMORTALITY. The release arrives alongside a new music video supported by a grant from the New York Foundation for the Arts.
With more than 28 million Spotify streams, Das Mörtal has earned his place as a defining voice in modern electronic music. I’MMORTAL, a California-born artist now based between New York and London, continues to carve out her own space in experimental pop. The original version of “Uncanny Valley” plays like a seductive fever dream. A sharp trap beat, warped vocals, and eerie textures blur the line between human and machine. Das Mörtal’s remix shifts the mood entirely. The track becomes darker, heavier, and more industrial, leaning into Darksynth with a relentless pulse. Fans of Carpenter Brut, Perturbator, and Dav Dralleon will recognize the cinematic weight and looming tension that define the remix.
On his approach, Das Mörtal explains, “Like most remixes I do, I was trying to make it sound as if this could be the original version of the track rather than have the vibe of a remix.”
The accompanying video mirrors that intent. Set against stark red and blue lighting, I’MMORTAL commands the frame with controlled intensity. A pole, towering heels, and reflective visors become symbols of power and distance. As the track fractures into distortion, her male counterpart physically breaks down, his body reshaped through unsettling clay and mud imagery. The closing scene reveals I’MMORTAL with no eyes, her gaze glowing from her chest instead. It is haunting, surreal, and perfectly aligned with the track’s title.
